This interactive session explores how AI, automation, and collaborative platforms are transforming nursing practice, education, and leadership. Through the lens of Rogers’ Diffusion of Innovation, participants will examine the historical evolution of nursing technology, analyze current trends, and anticipate future innovations such as precision health and virtual care.
The program combines evidence-based insights with practical demonstrations, showcasing how tools like Microsoft Power Automate, Teams, and AI assistants can streamline workflows, enhance communication, and support clinical reasoning. Attendees will gain strategies for integrating these technologies into professional development programs while maintaining the core values of compassion and patient-centered care. Ethical considerations, accountability, and lifelong learning will be emphasized to empower NPD leaders to guide their organizations through change and position nurses as innovators in a digital healthcare environment.
Speakers
Melodie Daniels, PhD, APRN, NPD-BC, is Program Manager for Learning Programs at Sharp HealthCare and Clinical Associate Faculty at National University School of Nursing. A Jonas Nursing Leader Scholar, Dr. Daniels shares over 20 years nursing experience.
Melodie has directed Magnet designation initiatives, designed simulation-based learning, and developed innovative strategies that integrate AI, automation, and collaborative technologies into nursing practice and education. Her expertise spans curriculum design, faculty development, and applied learning experiences that prepare nurses to lead in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment. Dr. Daniels is nationally recognized for advancing evidence-based practice and leveraging technology to strengthen clinical reasoning, patient safety, and lifelong learning.
